Wieland acquires Heyco Metals, National Bronze Manufacturing

With its purchase of Hummock Industries of Pennsylvania, Wieland, headquartered

With its purchase of Hummock Industries of Pennsylvania, Wieland, headquartered in Ulm, Germany, has acquired Heyco Metals, a light- and medium-gauge copper, copper alloy and stainless steel strip processor, and National Bronze Manufacturing, a manufacturer and distributor of bronze-based bearing products. The transaction closed Dec. 30, 2022.

Wieland says the purchase highlights its growth plans in the areas of mobility and electrification in North America.

Hummock Industries was a family-owned holding company that owned Heyco Metals of Reading, Pennsylvania, and National Bronze of Roseville, Michigan. These complementary operations will further strengthen Wieland's market position with expanded product offerings, manufacturing capabilities and distribution networks in North America, according to the company.

Heyco Metals, founded in 1969, operates a reroll mill in Reading and delivers products to the automotive, electronics, industrial and medical markets.

Founded in 1911, National Bronze is a manufacturer and distributor of bronze bushings, bearings and other industrial components for customers in a large range of industries. It also operates a metal service center with bar stock of various nonferrous materials.

Erwin Mayr, CEO of Wieland, says, "Like Wieland, Heyco Metals and National Bronze are recognized for exceptional quality and service. Our ambitious growth plans include the continued diversification of product categories and manufacturing capabilities, allowing Wieland to support the growing and challenging needs of our customers today and, more importantly, well into the future. This acquisition also reaffirms Wieland's commitment to continued investment and growth in North America."
